Canadian County Board GAA
to hold AGM in February

In five provinces of Canada there are 11 cities with 15 affiliated GAA clubs. Going from the west coast to east coast (7,349 kilometres in total), one finds British Columbia’s Vancouver ISSC Harps and Celts; Alberta’s Calgary Chieftains, Red Deer Eire Ogs (Mens), Edmonton Wolfe Tones; Ontario’s Toronto St. Mikes, St. Pats (Mens), St. Vincent’s (Mens), Gaels (Mens), Durham Robert Emmets, Brampton Roger Casements, Michael Cusacks (Ladies), Ottawa Gaels; Quebec’s Montreal Shamrocks, Quebec City Les Patriotes and Newfoundland and Labrador’s St. John's GAA.
The Canadian Board is twinned with the Ulster Council GAA. Notice has been given of the annual convention of the Canadian County Board on February 21 at the Ajax Convention Centre in Ajax, Ontario.
Expected guests include the president of the Ulster Council Tom Daly and Ulster Council Secretary Danny Murphy.
The Toronto Divisional Board held their AGM on January 24 and four past presidents were elected to the committee for the 2010 GAA season.
President: Mark O'Brien; Vice President: Bridget O'Toole; Corresponding Secretary: Gabriel Hurl; Recording Secretary: Cormac Monaghan; Treasurer: Sean Harte; PRO: Sinead Canavan; Competition Controls Committee Chair: Dermot Guinnane; and Youth Development Officer: Damien Higgins.
The Western Canadian Divisional Board AGM was conducted on January 27 using Skype technology for the first time by delegates. The experience was viewed as positive and economical.
Elected 2010 members are: Chair: Ronan Deane (Vancouver Harps); Secretary: Rory Lynch (Red Deer Eire Og); Treasurer: Kim Budd (Edmonton Wolfe Tones); Members-at-Large: Eamonn O'Keeffe (Calgary Chieftains), Jerry McCarthy (Vancouver Harps), Cathal O'Loughlin (Vancouver Celts), Barry Sinclair (Calgary Chieftains), and Brian Daly (Edmonton Wolfe Tones).
The dates for Western Canadian Championships in 2010 are June 26 and 27 in Vancouver, B.C., and July 31 and August 1 in Red Deer, Alberta.
