2008 Canadian County Board Convention

The Gaelic Athletic Association's Canadian County Board's Annual Convention was held on February 10 in Ajax, Ontario.
President Brian Farmer (Toronto - Durham Robert Emmets) chaired the meeting and delegates re-elected Vice-President Jarlath Connaughton (Ottawa - Gaels), Treasurer Eddie Mangan (Toronto - Durham Robert Emmets) and Secretary John O'Flynn (Vancouver - Harps) for one year terms.
In attendance were the following voting members: Toronto GAA President Mike O'Driscoll; Toronto Gael's President Greg Callan; Ottawa Gael's President Lisa Langevin; Brampton Roger Casement's President Damian Higgins; St. Vincent's President Gabriel Hurl; Durham Robert Emmet's President Brendan O'Neill; St. Mike's President Paul McElvanna; with observers Ken Ray of St. Vincents; Alan Martini of Durham Robert Emmets; Anthony Maguire of Toronto Gaels; Games Development Liaison Lorraine Morley; and Toronto Regional Games Development Officer Paul Loughnane.
Regrets were received from the Western Canada Divisional Board Chair, Ronan Deane and Western Canada's Club presidents from Calgary (Adrian Lagan), Edmonton (Sky Johnson), Red Deer (Blaine Lavery) and Vancouver (Marcus Treacy).
Two motions were presented to the delegates with the Western Canada Divisional Board's motion for "proxy" voting privileges being defeated and the Canadian County Board's motion for discretionary video/teleconferencing power for its hearings and appeals committees being approved. www.canada.gaa.ie or www.gaelicfootballforkids.com.
