SEATTLE GAELS REPORT - An Ambitious and Tough Year
With No Shortage of Great Times
By ROB MULLIN

SEATTLE - It has already been an incredibly ambitious year for the Seattle Gaels.
The club is only halfway into the season and has already had a successful fundraising golf tournament and replaced our club kit with a new custom design from O'Neills in Ireland.
The ladies football team has had unprecedented growth with a staggering number of new players learning and mastering the sport quickly! Our Seattle hurling league is in full swing for the third year and all teams are practicing hard to attend the NACB national tournament in Chicago over the Labor Day weekend.
The Gaels will also be doing their first foray into the grassroots development of its youth program by offering the Seattle Gaels Youth Camp. This is a two-day event happening July 14 and 15 at Magnolia playfields from 10 AM to 2 PM. The camp will teach boys and girls eight and older the basics of the games of Gaelic football and hurling, with coaching by long time Seattle Gaels players and coaches.
Children who participate in the event will receive a Seattle Gaels youth camp t-shirt in addition to learning these two great sports! There are still spots available and anyone interested should contact the Gaels at youth@seattleGaels.com or (206) 953-8460 to get more information on registering for this event.
Another great weekend will be the Seattle Gaelic football and hurling tournament, presented by Rain City Clothing, on July 21 at Marymoor Park in Redmond. Teams from Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, San Francisco and San Diego will play games of Gaelic football and hurling on two pitches.
Players and club supporters will then head downtown for an evening of celebration. The Gaels also invite everyone to attend the Irish Heritage Club's annual family picnic 12-6 the following day (July 22) at St. Edwards State Park in Kirkland; a great day of rest, relaxation, burgers, games and the easy life.
If that wasn't enough, we also have our hurling league final July 28 as well as the wildly popular Gaels fundraising auction in mid-August. We also look forward to our annual trip up to Vancouver August 4 and 5 for their great tournament.
It's been a very ambitious and tough year so far, but with no shortage of great times for those who love Gaelic games in the Northwest. For more up-to-date information, visit www.SeattleGaels.com.
