LANGLEY, BC – The only Renaissance festival in B.C. is returning for its fourth year this July in a new venue with a show that's bigger and better than ever.
The BC Renaissance Festival (BCRF) is moving to Thunderbird Show Park (24550 72nd Avenue, Langley, B.C.) for the three-day festival this year. A recent member of Tourism Langley, this year's performance features an ensemble/storyline cast of 14 actors.
The story picks up in the year 1511 as we return once more to the village of Steller's Grove. Many favourite characters are returning, and some new faces are being added.
Featuring King James of Scotland and Queen Margaret Tudor as well as a multicultural crew of pirates (headed by our very own female pirate Charity), this year's story is one to capture the imagination of young and old.
Experience the excitement of the jousting tournament as the Society of Tilt and Lance Cavalry return to the B.C. Renaissance Festival. Pick your favourite rider and cheer him or her on as they compete twice each day (noon and 5:00PM) for the coveted prize of being named Champion.
Throughout the day enjoy the many stage acts on any one of the four stages. From children's shows to singing and dancing, to sword fighting demonstrations and mini plays... There's something for everyone.
There are a wide variety of vendors on site with a range of historically inspired merchandise available. Clothing/costumes, hand-made leather items, musical instruments, photos, candles, jewellery, soaps, toys, tarot readings... are just a few examples of vendors who make up the village and await the avid shopper.
Don't worry about getting hungry. Turkey legs, perogies, burgers, sausages, tamales, coffee, pop, juice. A variety of food waits for you in the food court.
Hankering for something to quench your thirst? Sit back and relax in the pub over ale, wine or try a mug of mead, all locally brewed. Raise your voice and take part in the sing-a-longs at the close of the day’s events with a pub sing. Pull up a chair, grab a beverage and join in the atmosphere.
The festival runs from 9 AM to 9 PM from July 16 to 18. Daily admission to the event is just $15 for adults and $10 for children and seniors. Family and multi-day pricing is also available. This makes this a fun and affordable family event. Please note that this is a cash-only event with ATMs on location for your convenience. For more information, visit www.bcrenfest.com.
