Watch for new changes afoot at The Celtic Treasure Chest locations

VANCOUVER – Over at the Celtic Treasure Chest, owners Steve and Lil McVittie have been extremely busy expanding their business.

In addition to home base on Dunbar Street in Vancouver, they have successfully established their White Rock location, and are now looking further afield with a new location in Delta.

We recently ran into Steve and Lil at the St. David’s Day celebration at the Cambrian Hall and they told us about their exciting news.

Steve said, “We’re still working on a new store and wholesale distribution location in Delta. The stock is in but the fixtures are not all in place yet and the signage will be in two weeks.

“The wood floors are in and the cash counter installed and it is brightly painted with plenty of lighting. We have safety grates with Celtic designs and they look fabulous.

“We have a large walk in freezer for our deli products, two large freezers for our deli products, and a couple of coolers for our bacons, take out meat pies, and refreshments.”

The new location is creating a buzz in the area because of its great location. Steve says, “we have had a lot of interest because it is very central. We’re right on the corner and easily seen coming from either direction on River Road in Delta.

“Coming off the ferry we’re straight ahead without going through the tunnel. Coming from the valley or the interior we are also very accessible.”

The store and warehouse offers over 2,800 square feet of speciality British and European imports.

“With the closure of the bakery production in our White Rock location, we are now able to expand our retail store for more sweets and treats in that location.

“Everyone will be very impressed with the expanded variety and selection in our White Rock store. We now offer a lot of sweets that weren’t previously available which will remind customers of their childhood and the sweet shops in the UK.”

At the mid-March grand opening in Delta there will be pipe bands, Irish and Scottish dancers, along with a Scottish entertainer and other planned events.

There will also be product sampling such items as a British banger on a bun (proceeds to a local charity) and other features, so Steve promises, “it will be a bang up occasion.”

The Celtic Treasure Chest has revamped websites to reflect the changes to their stores. Visit them at: www.celtictreasurechest.com; www.celticbakeryvancouver.ca; and www.britishislesincanada.ca.
