Gearing up for a Big Spike in Business

RICHMOND – Recently, Colleen and I made a visit to Richmond where we stopped in for lunch at the Foggy Dew Irish Pub.
Richmond is home to the new $178 million long-track speed skating oval and the Foggy Dew is located nearby, so they are gearing up for a big spike in business throughout the 2010 Winter Olympics.
There is also a Foggy Dew Irish Pub located in Coquitlam. Both pubs are noted for their warm hospitality, delicious food, and great live entertainment.
A lot of establishments will be raising their prices throughout the Olympics, but Foggy Dew prices will remain the same.
Cranberries are the island city’s number one agricultural industry and Richmond is Canada’s largest producer of cranberries, with more than 60 family-owned farms.
Richmond’s iconic berry – 13 million of them, weighing 13,600 kilograms (30,000 pounds), will be dropped into the river offshore from the Richmond Olympic Oval.
The berries will float in a form carrying the design of the Canadian Olympic Committee’s logo, including a giant maple leaf and set of Olympic rings. Thirty anchors will hold the display in place.
The Richmond O Zone is a sixty-acre celebration site that will feature live, headline entertainment on the main stage as well as Winter Games action on the giant video screens.
The Vancouver International Airport is also located in Richmond where athletes and visitors will have first sight when they land in British Columbia.
