WHITE ROCK – The White Rock Irish Club had a pot luck and musical evening with the Athenry Band and Pride of Erin and Friends on October 24. Everyone brought along their favourite dish – including Dublin Coddle and Barm Brack.
It was a full house and everyone enjoyed great food and music. There were a few ceili dances organized by Brenda McDonnell from the Brenda McDonnell School of Irish Dance in White Rock. There was music ranging from Irish tunes to music from the Sixties with everyone up dancing.
The event was organized by John Pye, the president of the White Rock Irish Club and vice-president Kathy King. Visitors from Seattle had a wonderful night and enjoyed the warm hospitality of the White Rock Irish.
The White Rock Irish Club has been operating in White Rock for many years. There is a large active population of Irish with many talented members. As a result, every month there are music sessions with the Athenry Band on the first and third Wednesday and Pride of Erin on the second and the fourth, with locals joining in at these sessions.
The next big event will be the Christmas party or maybe a special birthday. For more information about the club, call John Pye at (604) 542-0734 or Kathy King at (604) 536-7307.
