MARY COUGHLAN (Irish: Máire Ní Chochláinn; born 28 May 1965) is a senior Irish Fianna Fáil politician. Since May 2008 she has been Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment. She has previously served as Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food and Minister for Social and Family Affairs. She has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for Donegal South West since 1987.

KARL GARDNER (L) the First Secretary with the Embassy of Ireland in Ottawa made a whistle stop tour through western Canada in July along with Nick Marmion (R) the Senior Vice President - Canada of Enterprise Ireland. Their visit was in advance of a planned trade mission to Canada by Mary Coughlan, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment.

DUBLIN - Enterprise Ireland is organizing a Trade Mission to Canada from October 18 to 21, to be led by Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan, T.D. and will include visits to Edmonton and Toronto.
The objective is to raise the profile of the participants and their relationships with local contacts and customers while highlighting the strong commercial relationship and excellent economic links between Ireland and Canada.
Enterprise Ireland is the Irish Government's semi-state agency charged with accelerating the development of world-class Irish companies.
One of its most important roles is to assist Irish companies in the development of export markets and it does this through a network of overseas offices.
In 2006, Enterprise Ireland opened an office in Toronto as Canada has become a significant target for Irish companies due to the size of the market, its sophistication, and the openness of the Canadian economy to trade.
There are estimated to be 200 Irish companies with current exports to Canada, across a very wide range of sectors. The objectives of the Toronto office is to assist Irish companies on the ground throughout Canada.
