LANGLEY - Summer time and the living is easy...but all that sun, sand, and surf can play havoc with your hair.
I recently spoke with Rose Farrell of Colour Tech Hair Studio in Langley to ask her opinion on how we can still enjoy the summer without ending up with dried-out and damaged tresses. Colour Tech specializes in colour corrections and damaged hair and Rose, who is originally from Liverpool, England, is a master in the art of colour and hair design.
She said, "right now people are doing a lot of swimming, sunbathing, and all kinds of outdoor activities, but what's really amazing is that people will spend thousands of dollars throughout the year on their hair, but they won't even buy themselves a decent conditioner.
"I think one of the things that you should do, if you do spend money on highlights, is you need to make sure that you get yourself a good shampoo and a good conditioner and a must is a leave-in conditioner because this will protect the hair from harmful UV rays."
Among the conditioners that Rose recommends are Goldwell who make a really good line of leave-in conditioners, as well as monthly deep conditioners. Lanza is also another very good conditioner that she recommends and has in stock.
Chi Oil is one of the hottest hair products to hit the salons and Rose said, "Chi Oil is really amazing because you just put a little bit on and your hair will shine like crazy. It will look like the hair is healthy, even if it's not, and it's something that everyone should have.
"Chi Oil is really good for people who use straighteners and it's usually better to put a little Chi Oil on after you straighten your hair, that way you have a beautiful and brilliant shine.
"But Chi Oil can be used for shine whether you have straight or curly hair. Most of my staff use the Chi Oil after the service is finished and you just put a little in the palm of your hand and smooth it over the hair and it gives a lovely shine.
"Chi Oil is actually a natural silk product and if you cut or bruise yourself, it will also help to heal. It's a good product to have on hand and we sell a lot of it here at the studio, so the secret is out about the shine."
