A Warm Welcome Awaits at Homecoming Weekend
A Cead Mile Failte to all former residents of Low, Quebec, who are cordially invited to return to your roots for a Homecoming Weekend, June 28, 29, 30 and July 1 to join in celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of the Township of Low (1858 to 2008).
On June 28, the Venosta picnic will kick-off the weekend with a full slate of activities. On June 29, events move to Tucker Lake, home of the Low and District Lions Club, for a multi-denominational Mass, followed by a variety of displays and old-time activities throughout the afternoon. In the evening there will be music by local and any returning musicians to be led by native son, Howard Hayes, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame.
On June 30, a display of old photographs and other artifacts from the community will be on display at the Heritage Hall in Low. There will also be boat tours along the Gatineau River. More music again in the evening at Tucker Lake.
The Lions Club are setting up the grounds at Tucker Lake to receive campers, whether in tents or RVs, so there will be no shortage of places to stay.
July 1, Canada Day, celebrations will kick-off with a community breakfast, followed by a bicycle rally from Kazabazua to Low.
For those who have moved to other parts of Canada or elsewhere, there has never been a better opportunity to come home to Low, to visit family and friends and to see what's been happening in the Gatineau Valley.
The Gatineau Valley is famed for its Irish hospitality where music and dance is interwoven into the fabric of the community. There are singers, step-dancers, fiddle players and square dancers from all over, all the ingredients for a welcome back home to the sons and daughters from Low, Quebec.
