Experience the Joy and Excitement of Horse Racing With Tom Quinlan

TOM QUINLAN

By CATHOLINE BUTLER

Growing up in Ireland, it was always a dream of Tipperary-born Tom Quinlan to breed and race thoroughbred horses.

Tom's dream became a reality after he moved to the United States. Two years after retiring from his job as public works inspector with the city of Gig Harbor, Tom is now living his Tipperary dream and racing his thoroughbred horses.

Another part of that unique dream was to arrange a tour back to Ireland to visit the internationally renowned Irish stud farms and take in some of the thrilling Irish horse races.

With the help of CIE International Tours in Ireland and Carlson Wagonlit Travel in Seattle, Tom Quinlan has been able to accomplish the second part of that dream.

Quinlan has arranged a 15-day tour for a small group of interested people this summer. The tour departs from Seattle on August 29 and returns September 13.

The tour will give participants an opportunity to experience first-hand thoroughbred horse racing in Ireland, along with visits to some of Ireland's most famous stud farms.

The stud farms include: Gilltown Stud; Kildangan Stud; Irish National Stud; Coolmore Stud and Ballydoyle Training Facility.

The Irish races on the tour include the Curragh Races; Clonmel Races; Leopardstown Races; and the Galway Races.

A tour of Dublin City to some of the historic points of interest is also on the agenda. These include Dublin Castle and Trinity College to view the magnificent Eighth Century Book of Kells. There will also be time to do some serious shopping, dining, and visiting some of the country's world most lively traditional pubs.

TWO THOROUGHBRED horses owned by Tom Quinlan: The mare is Dream Alive and her colt is Tipperary Diamond.

Others scenic sites will include the Cliffs of Mohar, Lisdoonvarna, Blarney Castle, Killarney, and a Ring of Kerry Tour. Finally, on the evening before departure, guests will attend a medieval banquet at Bunratty Castle. This will feature a feast in the great hall of the Fifteenth Century castle, where lords and ladies of the castle will transport you in spirit to the Middle Ages with their songs and stories.

Tom Quinlan's dream has brought a lot of excitement and fun, not only to his own family but also to many fans the world over of thoroughbred horse racing.

Now, it must be with great pride that Tom is inviting the public to come back to the land of his birth and experience the joy and excitement of horse racing.
