By CATHOLINE BUTLER
VANCOUVER - Doolin's Irish Pub celebrated their fifth year anniversary on November 15. Located at the corner of Nelson and Granville Street, the name Doolin's has become synonymous with fun and great times.

At the anniversary celebrations, guests were greeted with jigs and reels outside the main entrance by talented fiddle player Elise Bouer.
The ever-popular and lively Halifax Wharf Rats kept everyone entertained inside and it was a full-house of smiling faces, with everyone enjoying their pints and specialty Celtic beverages along with some tasty appetizers.
I was able to have a quick word with the always friendly and welcoming general manager Jay Mangan. Jay has County Cork roots. He told me how excited he and his wife are about the expected birth of their first child in March...could it be a Patrick or Patricia?
I also had an opportunity to speak to Lynn Santiago, the new director of promotions and marketing. Lynn recently took over this position from Christine Van. Lynn has an extensive background in the hospitality industry, having spent the last 14 years working primarily in sales and food and beverage in hotels, restaurants and bars.
"I'm having a lot of fun working at Doolin's," Lynn told me. "What I really like about Doolin's is the diversity of the crowd. One of the things that I always found to be a challenge at other establishments, was trying to keep everyone happy and having to change things all the time.
"Here at Doolin's, everyone seems to be so comfortable and everyone is so welcome. The staff take care of everyone really well. People can be themselves and they can leave here knowing that they had a really great time."
Along with booking entertainment for Doolin's, Lynn also books for the Cellar and Roxy night club. She also helps out from time-to-time with bookings for the Comfort Inn, which is also owned by Doolin's.
She is now working on the New Year's Eve party at Doolin's, which will feature live or DJ music, party favours, hats, noisemakers and champagne at midnight.
Looking ahead to March and St. Patrick's, Lynn is also busy organizing entertainment for the whole week of CelticFest because, of course, they celebrate in all three bars: the Roxy, Doolin's and the Cellar.
This year, with St. Patrick's falling on a Monday, there will be four nights of St. Patrick's festivities. So, along with the St. Patrick's parade, the Celtic Market Place and most of Granville Street shut down for CelticFest....there will be lots of music, dancing, and good times for everyone to look forward to.
