Warmth and Hospitality on Offer at Father Murphy's Irish Pub

By CATHOLINE BUTLER

On my recent visit to Calgary, I paid a visit to Father Murphy's Irish Pub, the newest Irish establishment in the city.

A GROUP of the men and women of the Calgary Chieftains Gaelic football team at Father Murphy's Irish Pub in Calgary.

There I met up with Adrian Lagan, the chairman with the Calgary Chieftains Gaelic football club, and Jim Yaworski, owner of the Belfast Giants hockey team, so it was a busy night.

The pub has been open since July which is traditionally a slower period. Now, with the arrival of the colder weather when people want to draw closer to the hearth, the crowds have arrived to partake in the warmth and hospitality offered at Father Murphy's Irish Pub.

Gabrielle (Gabe) Hoverty, is the owner and general manager at Father Murphy's Irish Pub. He was born and raised in Cushendall, a village in County Antrim in Northern Ireland.

He has extensive hotel and pub experience in Ireland. He is also a carpenter who did all the woodwork in the pub himself, including the tables, bar area, and beautiful rich finishing.

Noel Tuohy is also a partner in the pub and he plays Gaelic football with the Calgary Chieftains.

Tarra Scott is the cook, bartender, waitress and bookkeeper...in other words, she's the chief cook and bottle washer.

The pub is open seven days a week with delicious daily lunch specials and features. On Sunday a roast beef special is offered. Father Murphy's is noted for its special home fried potatoes.
