COQUITLAM - You can always be assured of good food and service at the Foggy Dew. That's what I had in mind as I stopped into the Foggy Dew Irish Pub in Coquitlam for some refreshments with my colleague Colleen Carpenter.

The pub has an extensive menu, with everything from appetizers, soup and sandwiches, salads and pastas to entrees. They also offer all the favourite Celtic pub specialties and beverages.

We were torn between ordering the brick oven roasted chicken pizza - which we have enjoyed previously - but decided this time to select the steak sandwich and beef dip. It was excellent.

General manager, Paul Gaudaur recommended the carmel cheesecake for dessert which was very light and tasty and just the right choice.

The Coquitlam Foggy Dew is a popular sports bar in the area, with six satellite televisions to watch all your favourite sports matches. With the start of the NHL season and the Vancouver Canucks back on the ice, the pub provides a great atmosphere to cheer-on your favourite players.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Foggy Dew has live entertainment featuring a great mix of Top 40 hits. With great classics and original music - it's a fun place to be. But it's always a good plan to get there early since there is usually a line-up, particularly on Friday and Saturday nights.

If your charity, school or team is looking to make some extra money, the Foggy Dew can assist with your fundraising events Because of the size of facility they can accommodate large group functions.

The evening we dropped in for dinner Paul Gaudaur had time to join us for a chat. Paul is a very genial publican and has been at the Foggy Dew since 1999, that's when the establishment first opened its doors in the Tri Cities area. It's not surprising then that Paul knows almost all his customers.

Gaudaur is a great sports enthusiast but has had to curtail many of the sports that he loved since his knee surgery. I also had knee surgery, so we traded knee surgery stories.

With the holiday season fast approaching, the Foggy Dew is now booking Christmas parties. Since this establishment books up early, you would be well advised to make your holiday reservations soon.

The Foggy Dew is located at 405 North Road (in the Executive Plaza Hotel) in Coquitlam. For more information, call (604) 937-5808, or visit: www.foggydewirishpub.com.
