A Night in November:
Irish black comedy at its best
VANCOUVER – Laughter, tears, hatred, compassion: one man, 20 characters from ages eight to 80.
A Night in November, Belfast playwright Marie Jones’ hit black comedy, showcases the remarkable talents of beloved Irish actor Frank Talbot, who provokes a tear, yet lightens the heart with this powerful performance.
In 1993 Belfast, football fever was raging at the now-infamous match between the Republic of Ireland and North Ireland teams in a World Cup qualifying event.
Come and experience one man’s wakeup call to re-examine his cultural beliefs – his life, even – after witnessing this explosive encounter.
So much more than a simple sports event, the cultural echoes are still discussed even to this day. Join Frank in this unique opportunity to relive it with humour and passion, with a view to sustain efforts to do better in the future.
Hosted with cabaret-style seating and candlelight in the delightful PAL Rooftop Theatre, A Night in November is a fundraising event for the PAL Residents’ Hobby Workshop project. Please note: some mature language.
Presented by MC Productions/Laurie MacKenzie. Adapted and directed by Frank Talbot. Two nights only: November 27 and 28, Friday and Saturday 7:30 PM. Tickets $20. Call (604) 633-0330 or order online: frankandmac@gmail.com (subject “tickets”).
