A 100th Anniversary Gala Event
to Celebrate French Heritage
MAILLARDVILLE (Coquitlam) - Société francophone de Maillardville will give a final bow to a year of celebration by presenting a unique show to commemorate 100 years of French history in British Columbia.
Written and produced by Isabelle Longnus, with Marc Pérusse as the musical director, the show Le Rêve d'un village will be presented on October 3 at the Red Robinson Show Theatre located at 2080 United Boulevard in Coquitlam. This will be a bilingual event.
This 100th anniversary gala event demonstrates the community's evolution over a series of decades.
Like the pioneers who built Maillardville, the artists are from different places across Canada (Québec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and British Columbia).
Special guests will include Lennie Gallant from PEI, Gérald Laroche from Manitoba, and Annette Campagne from Saskatchewan.
The show will take the audience back in time with music, theatre, dance, poetry and multimedia. Performers will communicate the unique heritage of Maillardville through folk, pop and rock music.
By commemorating the pioneers, the show reveals a universal message of courage and perseverance. Actually, these values are the real foundation of many French villages here and beyond the boundaries of British Columbia.
Reserve a table of eight for a delicious meal inspired by authentic French Canadian flavours. Tickets for Le Rêve d'un village are $75 for dinner-show and $35 for the show only and can be purchased online at: www.maillardville100.com.
