An invitation to keep the party going with the RSCDS Dancing in the Park

VANCOUVER – The world came and we had ourselves a party. Vancouver has never seen its like before and now, after the Games we’re all feeling just a little let down, but summer is on the way and Vancouver shines in the sun.

There is lots to do, festivals, outdoor theatre and every year...dancing in the park.

The Vancouver Park Board hosts Scottish Country Dance in Stanley Park each Monday evening at 7 PM from June 21 through to August 23.

You are invited to participate or simply watch and enjoy the music and the exhilarating joy of the dance, with the ocean and the glorious North Shore mountains as a backdrop. This event is suitable for all ages.

Like the other party our city hosted in February, Scottish Country Dance has an international following but without the competitive element, which means that everyone can join in the fun.

The dances are explained and experienced dancers are always willing to assist. It’s free, so come and enjoy the entertainment. Wear comfortable flat shoes.

The following nights may be of special interest: June 21 the Vancouver Demonstration Team and Port Coquitlam Legion Pipe Band perform.

Hear the pipes as they are meant to be heard, outdoors, and watch the Vancouver Demonstration Team perform for your entertainment.

On July 12 the Vancouver Fiddle Orchestra will help dancers move to the rhythms of fiddles, accordions and drums.

July 19 is children and family night, fun for the whole family. Bring a picnic and enjoy a summer evening in Stanley Park.

August 9 is ceilidh night. Duncan brings his personal enthusiasm and energy to this Scottish style, family party.

Live music is frequently a feature of the dancing. For more details, check out www.rscdsvancouver.org.
