In Fond memory of Myra Eleanor Hughes 1922 - 2008
MYRA HUGHES passed away peacefully on November 8 at Kamloops Royal Inland Hospital. Burial took place at St. Gerrard's Catholic Church in Ashcroft, B.C.
She was a wonderful wife and mother and will be sadly missed by her loving husband Danny. Left to cherish her memory are her children Kevin; Sean (Peggy); Ann (Rocky); and Carmel (Mike). Grandchildren Amanda (Jason, Mariah) Shyanne and Tyler. Sister-in-laws, Pat (Joe Boylan) Marie (Henderson) in Ireland, and many cousins in Australia.
Myra and Danny had just recently returned from a visit to Ireland (Danny was born in Ireland), they had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Myra was born and raised on a working sheep ranch in New South Wales, Australia and learned to ride horses at an early age. Her love of horses is shared by Carmel her youngest daughter.
Myra was a dressmaker by trade and a wonderful artist. Years ago she won prizes at the local shows in Ashcroft for her drawings. She remained proud of her Australian heritage but she also loved all things Irish.
May she have smelled the eucalypt and heard the last echo of a cookaburra's call. Rest in Peace.
