VANCOUVER - The Celtic Society of Canada was honoured to welcome acclaimed author Peter Behrens for a book reading of his novel The Law of Dreams. The event was a fundraiser to benefit the benevolent fund administered by the Society.
Behrens, who was awarded the Governor General's Literary Award for Fiction last year set his novel during the period of Ireland's Great Hunger and puts a human face to the suffering of so many who were forced to leave their homeland in search of a better life.
His presentation at the Tom Lee Music Centre on February 20 was insightful and entertaining. After his reading, he engaged in a short question and answer period prior to signing copies of his books for many of those present.
