VANCOUVER - One of Vancouver's best-loved entertainment events wrapped for a fifth great year, with a new title sponsor and was the biggest and best year ever!

For five action-packed days, from March 12 to 16, the fifth Annual Edgewater Casino CelticFest Vancouver brought visitors and locals together for an extraordinary celebration of Celtic performance and culture.

The popular annual festival was presented by CelticFest Vancouver Society and featured hundreds of gifted performing artists from around the world and at home, with more than 50 events at dozens of popular venues - including three outdoor stages in downtown Vancouver.

Several events celebrated capacity crowds including; the ever-popular The BIG St. Pat's Night Out! which featured international supergroup Celtic Fiddle Festival, the Brewmaster's Dinner, two Spirit of the West concerts at the Commodore, and the all-new event Battle of the Bards, a literary pub crawl.

"For the first time CelticFest featured artists directly from Scotland, Ireland, and France, including Scotland's musical heavyweights Battlefield Band," says CelticFest Executive Producer, Rita Albano.

Over 75 percent of all Festival events were free and the most popular free event, the fifth Annual St. Patrick's Day parade drew record crowds of over 250,000 people. The parade included pipers, drummers, Celtic music and dance groups, the Vancouver police and fire brigades, acrobats, stilt walkers, collector cars, multicultural organizations and got underway with a military low altitude flyby that wowed both adults and children alike.

Mark your calendars for the 2009 annual CelticFest Vancouver on March 11-15. For more information, visit: www.celticfestvancouver.com.
