FAYE McCAMBLEY |
Our beloved Faye will be
remembered as long as
love and music last.
Faye McCambley (nee Gannon), passed away peacefully on December 16, 2007, at her home in Chelsea, Quebec, surrounded by her loving family.
Daughter of the late Ambrose and Gladys Gannon. Sister of Catholine (Elaine) (Tom Butler), Michael (deceased), Myrna (Pat Daly) and Linda (Sherman McKale).
Beloved wife of 44 years to Keith McCambley. Mother of Shawn (Kerry Houlahan), Lorie, Lee (Donna-Lee VandeSande) and Kevin (Amy DuBreuil). Grandmother to Ashley, Sydney, Kendra, Jordan and Nathan.
Faye will always be remembered for her total devotion to her family, her faith, and for the kind, compassionate, and unselfish way in which she lived her life. Along with her three sisters and brother, she was raised on the family farm in Martindale, Quebec.
Faye was proud of her Irish heritage and was a gifted step-dancer. She often danced to the fiddle playing of her father Ambrose She and her sister Myrna were noted throughout the countryside for their lovely voices - they were often heard singing in harmony at the many house parties held at their family home in Martindale, Quebec. She was also a gifted writer and composer of poetry and limericks.
In Memory of My Beloved Sister
By CATHOLINE BUTLER
I travelled back to Chelsea, Quebec along with my youngest sister Linda McKale (Langley) and my son Pat McCay (Calgary), to spend the last remaining days with Faye before she passed away. We were privileged to be with the family at this time and to witness their wonderful care, devotion, and love for Faye.
One of the worst winter snowstorms of the season swept into the region on the day of the funeral, and St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Old Chelsea was filled to capacity. Faye had been a member of the choir at St. Stephen's for many years and was very involved in parish activities.

Fr. LOMER ROONEY |
Given the weather, it was surprising the number of people who followed the funeral cortege some 20 miles up the old highway to Martindale Parish for the burial in St. Martin's cemetery.
Very special thanks to Father Lomer Rooney, the parish priest at St. Stephen's Parish in Old Chelsea for his many visits to Faye at her home and his touching eulogy at her funeral Mass.
Other eulogys were given by Faye's nephew, Wayne Daly, and his sister Cynthia Greene. Special thanks also to Doctor Gold, Lise Demers and all the CLSC support staff. A big thanks to Don Kavanagh, who came from Ottawa to play the harmonica and Norbert Daly, from Gatineau, who played the fiddle at Faye's funeral Mass.
We will also never forget the wonderful generosity of the many neighbours, friends and relatives, who brought home baked food to the McCambley home to keep us all going. And of their kind expressions of sympathy. Thank you all most sincerely.
Pat summed it up for all of us when he said, "Together Faye and Keith were a shining example of Christian faith and belief. This was demonstrated by the way they conducted themselves with their caring and sharing for everyone."
That same caring and sharing spirit is what the people from the Gatineau are noted for and it was given generously to the McCambley family during their sad time of loss.
