THE ABOVE STAINED GLASS window representing Ireland's St. Brigid was commissioned for St. Mary's Anglican church located in the Kerrisdale area of Vancouver. |
THIS stained glass window representing Ireland's St. Brigid was commissioned for St. Mary's Anglican church located at 2490 West 37th Avenue in Kerrisdale, Vancouver (benefactor: Dianne McNair).
The work was created by Gilroy Glass, owned and operated by John and his wife Laura Gilroy. They relocated their family and business from Bristol, England to Vancouver two and half years ago and have happily found their skills in great demand here.
Laura and John Gilroy have been designing, creating and painting stained glass windows since 1985. They were the last apprentices trained at the oldest stained glass studio in England, James Clark & Eaton founded in 1788.
After its closure, the Gilroys established their own studio supplying designs, artwork and glass painting to 30 other studios throughout the UK and North America. They are elected Associates to the British Society of Master Glass Painters and now design and fabricate exclusively for their own studio.
