Join the SFU and RMM Pipe Bands
in Celebrating Scotland's Most Famous Bard
VANCOUVER - Enjoy music of the Highlands and the hospitality of the Scots while celebrating Scotland's favorite bard with two world-class bands - the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band and the Robert Malcom Memorial Pipe Band.
The two four-time World Champion pipe bands host this annual fundraiser Robbie Burns Dinner, which will be held this year on January 25 at the Executive Plaza Hotel, located at 405 North Road in Coquitlam.
This truly Scottish evening offers a silent auction, a delicious roast beef dinner with the essential haggis, along with a performance by the Heather Jolley Highland dancers.
The SFU Pipe Band started out 12 years ago with 35 members and has now grown to one of the largest pipe band organizations in the world, with participants from throughout the Lower Mainland, Fraser Valley and Washington state.
The Robert Malcolm Memorial Pipe Band (RMM) was formed in 1994 as a juvenile division of the SFU pipe band organization. The band carries the names of two SFU players, Robert Barbulak and Malcolm Bokenfohr, two dedicated band members who were killed in an auto accident in November 1993.
Tickets make a great Christmas gift. Single tickets are $70. Tables of 10-12 are also available for reservation. For more information, visit: www.sfupipeband.com, or call Dorothy McLean at (604) 463-3421, e-mail: gdmclean@telus.net.
