Hopscotch is open to both trade and consumers and this one-of-a-kind festival will showcase scotch whisky and premium beer from around the world.
Start off the festival by attending one of the satellite events, a more intense and intimate introduction to products and people behind them. Events include brewery tours, beer dinners and educational whisky tasting.
During the Grand Tasting Hall, Hopscotch's main event at The Rocky Mountaineer Station on November 16, over 2,000 guests will pass through the Hopscotch doors to sample over 120 products from over 36 exhibitors.
For whisky and beer enthusiasts, complimentary seminars led by industry experts run during the trade and consumer sessions. Experts which include independent whisky consultant, Andrew Starritt, of Cask Strength will discuss the varieties, history, distillation techniques, and subtle flavour differences of whisky.
"There has always been a fanatical sub-culture of whisky enthusiasts in Vancouver, now it is more like an army," says Andrew Starritt, "I have no doubt that Hopscotch Festival has played a huge role in this by making the drink accessible to the masses."
Choose from one of the many satellite events occurring throughout the week. Enjoy an evening at the Macallan Dinner, executive chef Jeremie Bastien of Boneta Restaurant will create a perfectly paired menu with some exceptional offerings from The Macallan, one of the world's most awarded and admired Single Malts.
Don't be fooled into thinking whiskey tasting is a men only trade. Generally speaking, women are better at coming up with allusive descriptors than men, and some of the best noses in the whiskey trade are women.
