Articles on Ancient Seasons Rites
Bring 'Imbas Forosnai'
Dear Editor:
I want to express my extreme delight in seeing your great coverage of both Celtic mythology and ancient seasonal rites such as Samhain in the November 2007 edition of The Celtic Connection. Keep it up!
Both Cynthia Austin and now James Acken give The Celtic Connection the "Imbas Forosnai" which I treasure so much in my Scots-Irish background. Please continue to add more of the same in upcoming editions.

[Imbas Forosnai means illumination dating back to when the druids put themselves into a trance like state to see visions. It is a special gift of clairvoyance believed to be possessed by the poets, particularly the Ollam of the Fili, in Early Ireland. The Three Illuminations are Imbas Forosnai, Tenm Laida, and Dichetal Do Chennaibh. These three techniques were used to achieve "Illumination," which is called "Imbas" in Irish. Imbas Forosnai is heavily featured in Jim Ferustelli's magnum opus, Mysticism in the Poetic Societies of Early Ireland: a Short Novel.]
