2009 Promises to Most Exciting for Vancouver ISSC

VANCOUVER - The Irish Sporting and Social Club (ISSC) would like to take this opportunity to wish all members and contributors during the year a very happy Christmas and prosperous 2009.

The club had a very successful 2008 and hopes to build on these achievements in the new year.

Winter training for both ladies and men will take place under lights every Friday evening at 6:30 PM at Killarney Park (Rupert and 45th Avenue) and all are welcome.

Even if you have never played Gaelic Games before, this is a good time to come out and learn about Irish sports.

Next year promises to be our most exciting one yet. We have already planned a number of events and tournaments. The season kicks off with the annual Australia Day Aussie Rules game against the B.C. Footy teams on January 24.

February and March sees the return of the Black Frog Mixed 7's tournament. On St. Patrick's weekend, the Aussies take us at our own sport.

Spring and summer will see the ISSC travel to the United States on multiple occasions, and a big trip to Edmonton, Alberta. This year Squamish is looking at having a tournament which we will attend. The Western Canada Division Vancouver Tournament is going to be held on June 27 and 28, 2009.

Indoor soccer will start one night a week in the new year. The ISSC Harps soccer team are currently competing in the Premier League in Richmond.
