VANCOUVER - The St. Vincent de Paul Society volunteers are a special dedicated group of men and women, who offer their time, energy and resources to help feed the homeless and less fortunate in our society.
This summer the volunteers gathered at the home of Thomas (Tom) O'Flynn, Society of St. Vincent de Paul British Columbia and Yukon Regional Council President, for their annual barbeque. Tom's back garden is a resplendent setting for the event with tables, chairs and umbrellas set out. The weather co-operated with some nice weather and the umbrellas were very welcome.
When this friendly and lively group finally are all able to get together they all pitch-in to cook and serve the food. Each year, past president, Sheila Coutu, has provided hand-picked homemade berry pies...delicious with ice-cream!
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is still very much in need of more volunteers, particularly at their East Hastings store. If you have any time to spare throughout the week ....a day, a couple of hours, please call (604) 873-1003, (604) 873-1065 or the help line at (604) 873-2297 and leave a message for Sheila.
