Meet the New Owner
of the Wolf and Hound: Jennifer Gallacher

VANCOUVER - The highly popular Wolf and Hound on West Broadway is under new management. Jennifer (Jen) Gallacher is the new owner and she has deep Celtic roots. Her ancestors are from Roscommon and her immediate family live in Glasgow, Scotland.
Jennifer is really no stranger to the Wolf and Hound, having worked at the establishment for the past three years as a server and a manager for the previous owner Jacquie Metzler.
I recently dropped in to meet Jennifer at the Wolf and Hound and learn how she became the new owner.
"Actually, I was on the verge of moving to Toronto to take a job as a graphic designer," said Jennifer. "When I returned to Vancouver, I realized that I really didn't want to move. After speaking with Jacquie, she told me that she was thinking of selling the Wolf and Hound and asked if I would be interested. So, that's how I became the owner of the Wolf and Hound."
Gallacher is also no stranger to the hospitality business, having worked as a chef for 10 years prior to working at the Wolf and Hound. She also backpacked around Ireland for six months and worked at a restaurant in Dingle, a very popular and scenic tourist area in County Kerry.
"I have a lot of respect for the work that Jacquie did," said Jennifer. "You never really know how much work someone does until you have to do it yourself, and it's a lot of work, but all-in-all it's going well.
"We've made a few changes to the menu, added a few touches here and there, and we're now open every Friday and Saturday for lunch. That has been well received by many of the local businesses, in fact we now get take-out orders.
"I've kept all the existing entertainment but have added Mark Downey on Thursday nights. He brings a little different mix of contemporary Irish music by mixing the old with the new. It's quite different and he attracts a lot of the Irish sports crowd.
"We still have our traditional Irish breakfasts every Sunday and have now added a few new items to that menu. But basically, things are much the same as when Jacquie was here."
