The British Butcher: 'Quality, Service
and Value at the Best Prices in Town'
By CATHOLINE BUTLER
On a recent trip to North Vancouver, I dropped into the British Butcher Shoppe to say hello to owners Robert Goodrick and Gerry Davenport. As usual, those two fellows were laughing and slagging one another....they are hilarious when you get them going.

Robert told me that there has been surge in orders for their wholesale products and they have put together a new wholesale list for their specialty bacons, sausages, black and white puddings, traditional hams and, of course, their famous meat pies. They can also supply everyone's favourite sweets and groceries from the UK as well.
Both Robert and Gerry are City and Guild trained in England where Robert received his Master Butcher after three years training and Gerry received his Red Seal as a trained European Chef after studying for six years.
"Our tempered cutting room is of provincial qualifications and up to provincial health standards," Goodrick said, "it's a proper approved cutting room and products supplied by us will arrive at our customers in our refrigerated truck and we guarantee freshness. We have two qualified butcher/chefs who work in our cutting room preparing our orders. We are supplying the quality, service and value at the best prices in town."
While I was in the shop I noticed cottage roll in the cooler and I was pleasantly surprised since it just seemed to disappear off the shelves years ago. I'm happy to report that it is still as tasty as ever.
The British Butcher Shoppe is located at 703 Queensbury Avenue in North Vancouver. For more information, call (604) 985-2444, or visit their website at: www.thebritishbutchershoppe.com.
