Memorial Concerts in Tribute
to Fallen Rideau Canal Navvies

A MEMORIAL CROSS was erected in memory of the fallen Irish navvies who worked on the Rideau Canal on June 25, 2004. It is located at the Rideau Locks, foot of Wellington Street.

OTTAWA - On March 14, a concert-style commemorative event with traditional Irish music, poetry and speaker will be held as a tribute to the fallen Rideau Canal Navvies (1826-1832).
This event hosted by the Canal Workers Commemorative Group (CWCG) will be held at the Ottawa Public Library (Main Branch),120 Metcalfe Street in Ottawa on March 14 at 7 PM. Admission is free.
On April 21, another tribute concert to the fallen Rideau Canal Navvies will be held, featuring Ottawa Valley traditional music, Irish/French traditional music, poetry and more. It will be held at the Dominion Chalmers United Church at 355 Cooper Street in Ottawa at 7:30 PM.
