In Memory of Alex Point
1932 - 2007

After a long battle with cancer, Alex was called home on September 25, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his Irish-born wife Rita, daughters Mary, Patricia (Gary), Germaine (Liam), Cecilia (Martin), and his son Thomas. Sisters Ruby, Sally, Catherine, Susan, Dona and brother Edward. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

Alex Point was known as "The Tough Guy." He worked as a logger, longshoreman and a fisherman, but as his son Thomas pointed out in his eulogy, many people would not know about all the charity work he did quietly outside his work. He was also a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and a volunteer handyman at his parish Canadian Martyrs Catholic Church in Richmond.

Alex Point is the father of Germaine Gibbons. Her husband Liam, is a long-time member of the Vancouver Irish Sporting and Social Club. Germaine and Liam have contributed to the ISSC in many ways over the years, including donating new team jerseys to the club.
