VANCOUVER - After a prolonged absence from the local arts scene, Stage Eireann launched a new season under the direction of Catherine Brennan at the Wolf and Hound on West Broadway on March 15.
The company staged a short one-act play based on Sean O'Casey's A Pound on Demand, where two rather inebriated working men find themselves battling the bureaucracy of the post office as they try to withdraw a pound on demand.
The cast included Mick Lynch and Patrick Bahrich as the two working men. Louise Schwarz played the frustrated postal worker, while Iris Cunningham played a woman finding it very difficult to get service behind the two drunks, and finally, Blake Williams played the unfortunate garda who was summoned to try to sort out the situation.
The show was extremely well received and there was a huge turnout to see the play. Applause all around and congratulations to all involved, particularly to Catherine Brennan for her triumphant resurrection of the company. Special thanks also to Jacquie Metzler for making the Wolf and Hound available for the production.
