Casual Waterfront Dining
Specializing in Seafood and British Fare

VANCOUVER - As usual, each month after The Celtic Connection has been distributed, Colleen and I will generally drop in to some of our local Celtic establishments for lunch.
After the marathon distribution of our combined December/January issue, we dropped in to the famous Cheshire Cheese Restaurant and Bar in North Vancouver, situated in Lonsdale Quay.

The Cheshire Cheese Restaurant and Bar is casual waterfront dining, specializing in seafood and British fare with a spectacular view of Burrard Inlet. It's a cozy and friendly atmosphere with British style pub decor.
There is a good selection of fresh seafood, fish and chips with malt vinegar, pan fried oysters with chips and, of course, pub style meat pies, along with lamb curry, a good selection of hot and cold sandwiches, and the soup is served with fresh baked baguettes. There is also a good selection of local and imported beers and Strongbow's Cider.
The Cheshire Cheese also offers a good selection of vegetarian dishes on their menu. For dessert there is a delicious English trifle, peach melba, and for a lighter dessert, vanilla and mango ice cream.
One last thing, the washrooms have hand cream, which I'm always impressed with!
I spoke with general manager, Luisa Gaspar, who has been with the company for 24 years. She mentioned that many of the staff have also been with the company for many years, such as chef Leah Ryan who has been there for 20 years, and cook David Krimmer for 14 years.
Luandah Drake has been a server for nine years, along with Tammy Chapman, Jana Dubcova, Ashley Dunne and Dan Little, who have also been at the Cheshire Cheese for many years.
This says a lot about the establishment. When the staff are happy, the customer can only benefit from a positive atmosphere.
