New Permanent Gaeltacht

KINGSTON - Cumann na Gaeltachta in Kingston, Ontario, has purchased a 60-acre parcel of land near Erinsville (Tamworth), Ontario, to establish their permanent Gaeltacht site. It is a very attractive piece of property with frontage along the Salmon River.
The purchase price of land was $60,000, and financing has been arranged. Their accumulated resources to date are approximately $23,000. A patron has agreed to put a further $20,000 forward at low interest (or no interest), with a moratorium on payments for two years.
The bank interest rate for the remaining $20,000 is 5.8 percent and pledges have been received to cover the interest and taxes. Shares continue to be sold to make the principal payments, and local members of the organization have agreed to pay any shortfall.
