Fighting for a Fair Deal
VANCOUVER - If you ever worked in the UK, you could be eligible for a UK State Pension currently worth between $190 to $780 per month, thanks to contributions you were obliged to make while employed in Britain. The Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners (CABP) can help you determine your eligibility, and tell you how to make up arrears from Canada.
British residents and ex-pats in some 35 other countries including the United States and the European Union get an indexed pension.
People in Commonwealth countries who are entitled to a British State pension are discriminated against by having their pensions frozen at the rate at which it starts. CABP is leading the fight, together with allied organizations in Australia and South Africa, to get a fair deal from the UK Government.
CABP exists to end this disgraceful inequity, and the case is now before the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg. Membership in CABP will assure that your name is added to the list of petitioners.
