'Best Patio in Richmond'
at Elephant & Castle

VANCOUVER - The Elephant & Castle Restaurant and Pub on Cessna Drive in Richmond marked its fifth birthday on June 23 and at the invitation of general manager, Clint Boodoosingh, I dropped in on the celebrations.

Sitting adjacent to the Delta Vancouver Airport Hotel, the Elephant and Castle overlooks the marina. A British-style restaurant and pub noted for it's outstanding food and drink, it also offers one of the most outstanding views of the Fraser River.
Their patio has the distinction of being voted the "Best Patio in Richmond," and it's easy to see why. As you sit on the patio surrounded by yachts, you get the feeling that you're also on a cruise. It's a great place to enjoy the hot summer evenings.
There is an upstairs room called the Sandbar which can be rented for private functions. The evening that I was there, a birthday party was underway in the Sandbar and a table had been laid out with some tasty hors d'oeuvres and a birthday cake.
There is a very friendly and attentive staff at the Elephant & Castle, and much of that welcoming atmosphere is due to general manager Clint Boodoosingh. A native of Digby, Nova Scotia, on the Bay of Fundy, Clint has brought that famous friendly Maritime good humour with him to the Elephant & Castle.

Clint worked extensively in the hospitality industry in Nova Scotia, prior to moving to Vancouver. His parents, who were originally from Trinidad and Tobago, moved to Nova Scotia as teachers. He said his mom always loved a good party, so it was very natural for him to gravitate toward the hospitality business.
