Ceol binn a bhaint as an saol! Put some music into your holiday season by giving concert tickets, CDs or music lessons to your loved ones. There's a fab local music scene here that deserves your support.

Concert listings:
• The fifth annual Danny Burns Memorial "Feed the Hungry Benefit" is December 10 at the Wolf and Hound in Vancouver from 4 PM with music from Route 66, The Rogues n' Tinkers, the B.C. Regiment Irish Pipes and Drums, Blackthorn, Mutiny Gone Overboard, Three Row Barley, Brian Flanagan, Ballyhooley and more. This is always a wonderful event for a great cause
• Hot young Winnipeg band The Duhks is creating a big buzz across the country and beyond. Come see what the fuss is about December 13 when they hit St. James Hall
• Former Mad Pudding member Cam Wilson leads Van Django on their CD launch on December 16 also at St. James
• The first big show of the new year comes January 25 when the fine Scottish group Back O' The Moon plays St James
• Welsh singer/songwriter Martyn Joseph is here on February 2
• Spanish Celtic band La Musgana return on February 4
• Irish-Canadian singer-songwriter Stephen Fearing is back in town on February 8
• Look for Clare box player David Munnelly in March accompanied by former Danϊ member Daire Bracken on fiddle
• Things look good for a Shooglenifty show on March 31
• March also sees the return of the Vancouver Celtic Festival featuring a ton of great music. Watch this space
• Jez Lowe will be back with The Bad Pennies on April 11 fresh from a tour of Australia
• Gigs in the works include a CD launch for Jaime RT and Andy Hillhouse and a double-bill with Vancouver's Plough and the Cleia Remnants.

Local motion:
• The next Scottish ceilidh dance is January 26 at the Scottish Cultural Centre. All steps are taught and beginners are welcome

• Members of Blackthorn play Friday nights at Mahony and Sons Public House/Teach Tabhairne, a new Irish pub at UBC
• The Wolf and Hound has traditional sessions on Monday and Wednesday nights
• Irish Heather has an Irish traditional session on Thursday nights and its sister establishment the Limerick Junction has a Tuesday night session.

• After The Morning is the latest from Irish singer Cara Dillon on Compass Records
