Two Great Celtic Acts To Enjoy this Fall

VANCOUVER - The ACT Maple Ridge will present two of Canada's leading Celtic groups this autumn. The ACT is the home of culture and live entertainment in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. Located at 11944 Haney Place in Maple Ridge, its 500-seat main stage theatre offers great sight-lines from every angle, comfortable seats, wonderful sound and an intimate ambience.

Raylene Rankin On October 20, Raylene Rankin will perform a special one-night concert at the ACT. As part of the acclaimed Canadian recording act, The Rankin Family, Raylene's pure, sweet voice joined those of her brothers and sisters. At the height of their popularity in the Nineties, the group toured the world and sold more than two million albums.

Raylene is the voice of The Rankin Family's hit song, Rise Again. She is also the author of Gillis Mountain, a song that achieved to five status on radio in Canada, and became a hit in Britain.

Her live shows are a mix of new material, Rankin Family favourites, and traditional Celtic music, including some of the Gaelic songs she is so fond of.

The Barra MacNeils On November 24, the Barra MacNeils, will perform a special one-night concert at the ACT. Steeped in Cape Breton tradition with strong Celtic roots and musical artistry, this diverse and talented family group continues to sell out audiences around the world with their captivating vocals, harmonies and extraordinary musicianship.

From headlining major festivals, concerts, special guest appearances (Rita MacNeil's CTV Christmas Special, performing with The Chieftains) television specials, film and television placement (Men with Brooms Soundtrack, Racket In The Attic) and their annual Christmas tour, they have set the course with a solid foundation for success.

The Barra MacNeils' one-hour Christmas Television Special (2000) continues to be broadcast on Country Music Television (CMT) and on the Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) network in the United States. Canada's Celtic ambassadors and multi-award winners continue to spread their distinctive brand of Celtic flavour around the world.
