Ceol binn a bhaint as an saol! All too quickly it's once again the time of year when we start to treasure every single dry day. At least there's sweet music and dance to warm the wet days ahead.

On September 16 at St. James Hall there's a CD release party for Vancouver's Dyad to celebrate their second album, No Pedlars or Preachers. Opening will be Outlaw Social from Victoria featuring Paperboys' fiddler Kendel Carson
Shooglenifty fans will have to cross the border and head for Seattle to get an opportunity to catch Edinburgh's folkadelic acid-crofters on their current tour. The closest they get to Vancouver is their September 27 date at the Tractor Tavern
Singer and whistle player Vin Garbutt comes to St. James October 6 with an opening set by local faves Shona Le Mottee and Tim Readman
Boston's Crooked Still make their B.C. debut on October 12 at St. James with singer Aoife O'Donovan backed by cello, banjo and bass
There's a rare Vancouver appearance by Crasdant, champions of Welsh instrumental music, on October 14 at St. James with Robin Huw Bowen on triple harp
James Keelaghan, who's latest CD features Irish traditional songs as a tribute to his father, plays the Capilano College theatre on November 3. He'll be accompanied by Salt Spring Island fiddler Jamie RT and bassist Hugh MacMillan
The Rogue folks are working on a return gig for Scotland's Battlefield Band in late November and the long-awaited return of The Duhks in the first half of December
Watch for Scotland's Back O' The Moon in January and Welshman Martyn Joseph in February.

The first Scottish ceilidh dance of the fall season is September 29 at the Scottish Cultural Centre with live music from Calanais. All dances are taught and beginners are welcome

The Jericho Folk Club runs Tuesday nights at Jericho Sailing Centre with a session followed by an open stage from 7:30 and the main act at 9:30 PM. September 12 it's former Scatter the Mud member Phil O'Flaherty, September 19 accordion player Graham Tait and on September 26 it's singer Andy Vine
The Wolf and Hound hosts traditional sessions on Monday and Wednesday nights
The Irish Heather has an Irish traditional session on Thursday nights and its sister establishment the Limerick Junction has a Tuesday night session.
