Northwest Fiddler Makes Irish Times Top Five Traditional CDs of 2005

SEATTLE - Fiddler Randal Bays lives on Whidbey Island, just north of Seattle, and is well known to both American and Irish audiences for his great fiddling and his dedication to the Irish musical tradition.

Now he’s been recognized by the Irish Times, Ireland’s largest newspaper, with the selection of his recent CD, House to House, as one of the top five traditional Irish recordings of 2005. This is a rare honour, and rarer still for a fiddler not born in Ireland.

House to House is an all live album, with accompaniment by bouzouki player Roger Landes, recorded at a series of intimate house concerts throughout the U.S. Bays tours regularly in the U.S., Canada and Ireland, with Roger Landes or with Irish singer and guitarist Daithi Sproule.

He’s also cofounder and musical director of the Friday Harbor Irish Music Camp in Friday Harbor, Washington, celebrating its fifth year from March 6 -12. For more information on Randal Bays or House to House, visit Randal’s website at: www.randalbays.com.
