Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with The Irish Descendants

MAPLE RIDGE - One of North America’s hottest Celtic acts and an amazingly fun band to boot is spending their St. Patrick’s Day at The ACT in Maple Ridge. On March 17, the Irish Descendants will take the stage for what is sure to be the best St. Patrick’s party on the West Coast.

NEWFOUNDLAND’S Juno Award winning Irish Descendants will entertain at the ACT Theatre in Maple Ridge on St. Pat's Day.

Since forming from two local Newfoundland bands in 1990, the Juno Award winning Irish Descendants have had a wide impact on audiences and music lovers all around the world. The band’s exquisitely produced, award-winning recordings, ranging dynamically from the most sensitive and touching ballads, to high-energy toe tapping reels along with their heartwarming and humorous live performances, has led the group to achieve a large and loyal fan base, impressing audiences with their live shows.

The multi-talented band members are: Con O’Brien on lead vocals, guitar; Glenn Hiscock on fiddle, bouzouki, concertina, harp, tin whistle, piano accordion, mandolin and vocals; Paul “Boomer” Stamp on drums, percussion, vocals; Bob Pike on bass guitar and vocals; Mike Hanrahan on banjo, bouzouki, mandolin and vocals.

The band has earned fans worldwide with their mixing of traditional and contemporary sounds that capture the spirit of Newfoundland and the Celtic world.

St. Patrick’s Day celebrations at The ACT don’t end when the Descendants finish their concert. The party continues with music from local Celtic favourites: The Navies, presentations from the Stewart School of Irish Dance, and a party that will go to the wee hours when the studio is turned over to guests who will join in the dancing and celebration to the patron saint of Ireland.

This is an evening that will appeal to young and old in the community tradition of the old world focusing on fun and frolic – with maybe a pint or two.
