In Memory of Pat Warren:
A True and Loyal Friend
Dear Editor:
Thank you for your excellent tribute to Pat Warren in the November issue of The Celtic Connection. How ironic that Pat left us just after the publication.
Cecil and I have lost a very good friend, in fact the community has lost a friend and a leader. We met Pat and Brenda in 1957 at the wedding of Paddy Farrell and Ellie Colley, and we have been friends ever since.
Pat and the late John Donoghue invited us to join the Emerald Players, which was later superceded by Stage Eireann.
Pat was passionate about Irish culture and spearheaded the production of well-known and not-so-well-known playwrights. Pat's word was his bond - if he said something would be done, you could stake your life on it.
The late Dorothy Somerset who produced Sean O'Casey's Cock-a-Doodle Dandy expressed concern about the characters of the rough fellows, but Pat allayed her fears saying, "Miss Somerset, it will be alright on the night." And indeed he was right, the rough fellows were a huge success.
Pat was a proud and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. But, most of all, he was a true and loyal friend.
Slean lat a cairdre, Padraig.
