They recently returned from London, England, where they rushed on August 3 to attend to their 22-year old daughter after learning that she had been seriously hurt in a road accident.
Megan Phillips was studying to complete her MA in Musical Theatre Performance in London when she was struck by a car as she walked along a sidewalk. She was rushed to hospital and underwent a five-hour operation on her leg and had several rods, pins and screws inserted.
Carolyn said, "afterwards, we needed to rent, beg and borrow accommodation for her, as she could not get up the stairs to her flat. In addition, I found myself playing Angela Lansbury helping accumulate witness statements to assist the over-worked police in their investigation of this accident…one of dozens they would handle in a week, I'm sure!
"I learned a lot about the British Medical system and the London police…the good, the bad and the ugly! I am so glad to be back home, that is all I can say.
"In the meantime, my heart goes out to my young daughter as she copes. She had been cast in a lead role for Nunsense, a September musical production in London, and had to forfeit this because of her accident."
Megan is now home in British Columbia along with her family. Fortunately she is young and highly motivated and her mother said, "we are all praying feverishly right now for her to heal!"
