A Memorable Evening for Irish Graduates Association
VANCOUVER - John Furlong, CEO for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, wowed the Irish Graduates Association with a powerfully motivating speech at their dinner in the Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club on June 9.

Recounting stories from his youth, his early days in Canada and his work preparing for the Olympics, he answered questions from the floor after posing for photographs and chatting with some of the graduates.
He received a standing ovation from the crowd of about 160 Irish graduates and friends. The evening was a great success with the Shaughnessy staff putting on a magnificent buffet under the watchful eye of Adolf Eitzenberger, the food and beverages manager.
Larry Cheevers introduced Furlong and presented him with a small gift. Judith Pike and Patricia Ryan welcomed graduates and friends from all four provinces and Kevin Elwood was his usual disarming self, as Master of Ceremonies, with pre-dinner chatter and anecdotes.
It was certainly a memorable evening and both graduates and friends look forward to the next dinner with great anticipation.
