Robert is a sub-contractor in the building trades and with the present shortage of skilled trades personnel, he is much in demand. He recently installed a new state-of-the-art upgrade digital satellite system to receive all the Setanta broadcast Gaelic games at the Edmonton Irish Club. This upgrade will help to rectify interference problems encountered last year with the reception.
“The Gaelic football and hurling games that we bring in live at the club start in May and go right through until September,” said Robert. “The games start at 6:30 AM and in May, June and July, we have a pretty steady core of anywhere from 15 to 25 supporters. But that number grows from 100 to 180 for the finals.”
Murphy played mostly hurling in Ireland but he is now a Gaelic football player with the Edmonton Wolfe Tones, traveling to tournaments in Seattle, Vancouver and Calgary.
