CELTFEST 2006: An Exciting Summer School with World-Class Performers

NANAIMO - CeltFest 2006 is a five-day international summer school and concert series presented by the Celtic Performing Arts at Tigh-Na-Mara Resort, culminating in the Sunset and Stars Gala Concert at the Port Theatre in Nanaimo.

Students of all ages and skill levels, beginner to professional, participate in high level music and dance educational programs: Highland, uilleann, Northumbrian pipes, drumming, fiddling, cello, penny whistle, Irish, Highland and Cape Breton stepdance, guitar, Celtic harp, song and artwork and group ceilidh dance.

Performance ceilidhs open to the public Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 7 PM at Tigh-Na-Mara Wallbran Ballrooms. Gold medalist pipers, Riverdancers, champion fiddlers and dancers, acclaimed recording artists including Juno Award nominees are in attendance.

CeltFest 2006's instructional faculty includes the lead understudy to Michael Flatley in the original Riverdance, Glenn Simpson from Ireland; champion piper Ken Eller from Ontario; and current world champion Highland dancer David Wilton from Scotland; and 2004 fiddler -Juno nominee Pierre Shryer from Ontario.
