Highlights of this Year's CelticFest Vancouver 2006

VANCOUVER - From March 15 to 19, CelticFest Vancouver will present more than 40 live performances at dozens of popular locations downtown in the heart of Vancouver’s Entertainment District. There will be many free performances with some very special guests and events.

In addition to brilliant Celtic music on stages and in the pubs, free music workshops, Irish and Scottish dancers and quick witted poets, a Gaelic football match, the weekend street market, and the eagerly anticipated third annual St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 19, CelticFest adds a whole new dimension to the festival– the KidsZone!

A second block of Granville Street will be closed to traffic and dedicated to entertaining kids and families alike. Dazzling circus acts, magical story telling, and delightful surprises await your children at the KidsZone on Sunday.

The festival will also present three excellent Irish films, including Raise The Roof and If I Should Fall From Grace: The Shane MacGowan Story as well as some educational culinary outings at the Irish Cellar (Doolin’s) and Morrissey Irish House, original cabaret nights, a charming theatrical revue on one of Ireland’s greatest artists and much more.

All the way from Nova Scotia, the festival brings you Troy MacGillivray, Antigonish’s treasured Gaelic fiddler, who has just been nominated for the East Coast Music Award’s Instrumental Recording of the Year. Don’t miss his performances, at various locations throughout the festival weekend.
