In Memory of Joseph Timothy Doody (1923-2005)

VANCOUVER - Joseph Timothy Doody was born in Ballingarry, County Limerick, Ireland on January 30, 1923, the third born of six children. He married his wife Agnes in 1950 in Dublin, and they had two sons Donald and Gerard in Ireland before immigrating to Canada in 1953. Daughters Anne Marie and Monica were born in Canada.

For approximately 27 years, Joseph Doody was a bus driver with BC Electric/BC Hydro/BC Transit. Being the chatty and social fellow that he was, he had many friendships that he established while driving. While living in Kitsilano, the family grew up and went to school at St. Augustine’s. He was very active in that parish until moving out to Richmond.

Joe was thrilled to retire at 60 years of age and started travelling extensively with Agnes to the Orient, England, Ireland, Europe, and New Zealand, and throughout the United States. After well over 41 years of marriage, Agnes died in 1992, following a courageous battle with cancer at 70 years young.

Joseph Doody passed away in Vancouver on November 5. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and his many friends in the local Irish community.
