The Red Lion Bar and Grill: A Very Upscale Pub

The Red Lion Bar and Grill is unique in West Vancouver, it's a one-of-a-kind Celtic establishment. At the opening of the Red Lion two years ago, owner Gren Thomas spoke to The Celtic Connection about his reason for opening such a facility.

He said there was no decent “local” for him to go to in West Vancouver (where he resides), and he missed the pub feel of a decent bar, just like the ones he remembers back in his native Wales. So he decided to build his own, home-away-from home pub. This was not a hardship for him since he owns a gold and diamond mine in Yellowknife.
Even though it is called the Red Lion Bar and Grill, anyone from Ireland, Scotland, Wales or anywhere in Britain, would recognize it as a pub – and a very upscale one at that. It features luxurious dark wood panelling, beautiful interior fixtures and stained glass designs, right down to a cosy snug and comfortable feel of the old country.
Mario Corsi, the managing partner has recently taken over the day-to-day operations of the Red Lion. Mario is the former proprietor of the late Park Royal Hotel, and he brought along his gourmet chef with him. This has resulted in an exciting revamped and upgraded menu, but no fear, there are still the old Celtic favourites on the menu.
The Red Lion is very conducive to enjoying an intimate lunch or dinner or for just sitting back and enjoying a pint. They also serve all the traditional Celtic beverages. It is a great place for birthday parties or for any other special functions, and they are now taking bookings for Christmas parties.
