Taste Some Authentic Irish Food at Black Pudding Imported British Groceries

LANGLEY - Would you like to sample some real Irish food to get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s? Then head out to Langley on March 12 to Black Pudding Imported British Groceries (formerly the Deli King), at 20243-62nd Avenue (between 202 and 203 Street).

GREG BOWLES owner of Black Pudding Imported British Groceries at his new location in Langley.

Between 12 Noon and 3 PM, owner Greg Bowles will host a special sampling of mouth watering authentic Irish bacon, Irish sausages, and Irish soda bread, all topped off with some delicious Irish potato soup. An Irish piper will also play some favourite Irish airs, just to put you in the festive spirit. What a great way to start off St. Patrick’s celebrations!

Owner Greg Bowles recently moved location and changed the name of his shop which is actually just a hop, skip and a jump from his previous location at the Langley Crossing Mall.

I recently dropped into to visit Greg and check-out his new shop and products.

It’s definitely bigger with much more product and coolers, in fact, the day we dropped in skids and skids of newly received products from overseas were being unpacked and put onto the shelves.

“Our new location fits like a glove and we have gained a lot of new customers since our move and name change,” said Greg. “In fact, we’ve doubled our sales of black, white and fruit pudding. We’re also carrying a lot more British cheese and expanding in our sweets and groceries selections. We have more selection in the specialty bacons, we make our own steak and kidney pie, and our newest product is Irish corned beef – just in time for the St. Patrick’s celebrations.”

There is a little area in the front of the store where Greg plans to have tables and chairs and serve tea, scones, Irish soda bread and soup. There are a lot of little gifty items from overseas, such as t-shirts, flags and stickers and cook books, along with a good selection of British groceries.

Speaking about his St. Patrick’s sampling of Irish food on March 12, Greg laughed and said, “we tried this for the Robbie Burns celebrations in January and our customers loved it. In fact our store was shoulder-to-shoulder all day as people tasted haggis and listened to the bagpipers – it was one of our biggest days ever. I expect our St. Patrick’s sampling to be even bigger.”

A bit of advice: Get out to Black Pudding early on March 12, and enjoy the St. Patrick’s celebrations!
